Hello All,
I am looking for information about Aspatria agricultural college, and the names of students who attended in 1891.
Any information or advice about where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tracy.

I suggest the first thing to try is an e-mail to Carlisle Record Office http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/archives/recordoffices/carec.asp

Many thanks Geoff. :)

Can't help with students but if you go to historicaldirectories.org, then find by location, cumberland and click on Kelly's 1897, and put aspatria agricultural college in the search box, a full list of masters can be found on p30. bob

If you look on page 81 of the aspatria & brayton 1891 census it lists 10 students that boarded at the college. I have made a note of them if you would like me to list them. I do not know if there were day students aswell. I also have a book about Blennerhasset where 'Mechi Farm' is located, this farm was an experimental farm which I believe might have some connection with the college.

Hi Carol,
Thank you very much for your reply, I did have a look at the census you mention a few weeks ago.
I'm actually looking for proof that 3 of my ancestors may have actually attended the college.
The first one was George Percy Cork born in Singapore about 1873, he is listed on the 1891 census as living with the Biglands family at Hall Bank, Oughterside.
He is 17 years old and listed as a pupil. I'm thinking may be he was a day student at the college.
He had previously been living in London where his other siblings were still living at this time.
On the 1901 census it states that his 2 brothers are now living in Cumbria, and are listed as farmers at Mawbray.
So I was hoping to find that they might have also attended the college.
Thanks again Carol.
Tracy.
