Hi, I'm looking for any information relating to my grandmother, Isabella Jane Morgan. She married Patrick William Larmour & lived in Memel in the Free State. She must have been born around the 1880's. She may have been raised in Paardekop. I have no knowledge of any siblings or any additional information. Can anyone help?

Hi there,
Do you have both Patrick's death notice? This may give some clues. It is archived in PMB archives. You can also search the images of the baptisms on Family search
Also the estate files - look through the morgans and see if there are any familiar names and then check the images.

Hope this helps - I cant see anything else at this point besides the reference to patricks death notice in the archives.

Hi there - thanks for the prompt reply. I don't have Patrick William Larmour's exact date of death - he was buried at Stellawood Cemetary in Durban on 1949-06-21 - so I imagine a week or so prior to that. My Grandmother Isabella Jane Morgan died when I was in my teens so I estimate mid to late 1960's. I am trying to find out more from family members but am not having too much luck. Regards, Ellen

His death notice is in the Pietermaritzburg archives- you can order it through EGGSA, very cheaply. Did she also die in Natal? Check out Naairs for his death - here is some info and guidelines. His death notice may give his parents details.
Did they marry in natal?

Hi again,
If you look on ancestry.co.uk there is a public tree with Patricks parents as William John larmour and Mary Blaney. His birth is given as 1875 but no details. It may also just be a guess!
It is just so difficult to find birth records in South Africa - be patient and they may eventually be transcribed. BTW there is a database of Natal Marriages that has been transcribed.
There are also 2 records in Naairs for P Larmour, relating to his police activities.

Hi Ruth,
Thanks for that. I have managed to locate Patrick's family in Ireland so I have accumulated quite a bit of info on his siblings & grandparents. Even to the extent of some photos of gravestones. Unfortunately, my grandmother remains a mystery. My sister tells me that she was resident in TAFTA in Durban at the time of her death. She definitely wasn't buried at Stellawood Cemetary - they only have records of my grandfather Patrick William & uncle William John Larmour. The crematorium need exact dates of death to check on their records. The going is really slow! Thanks for your input - much appreciated. Regards, Ellen

Hi again,
i live in durban so I will double check the marriage register in case they were married in natal. My gran aslo died in Tafta but 20years later. There is a new cemetery listing coming out shortly so I will check that as well. Will keep looking - I often come back to queries when new databases are released.
