Title: Robert Henry Cheesman 2nd World War Record
Post by: Geminineil on Wednesday 29 February 12 17:49 GMT (UK)
Can anyone help? I am trying to find out where my father was stationed and when during the second world war. In particular I am interested in when he was stationed on Ranmore (near Dorking Surrey) on the North Downs during 1941 when Nineteen high explosive bombs fell in a long line among trees and bracken on Ranmore Common. I understand that several soldiers may have lost their lives at this time.

My father's regiments are: Unit: Ex 69 LAA Royal Artillery
Previous units:   Res AA Regt
         Res Mobil Regt
         97th Reg 4HH
         Res HA Last

His war record is: Enlisted: 15th July 1940
Rank; Gunner
Royal Engineers 15/07/1940 to 31/07/1940
Royal Artillery 1/08/1940 to 3/03/1946
Army Number 1583442
Departed UK 12/03/1943
Arrived India 6/06/1943

Many thanks, Neil

Hi Neil,
Sorry to hear that the email address was no good. I've rechecked my data and it is the email address as shown on their letterhead, but this is dated 28/6/05!
Either they've moved or changed their email address. I suggest your try the telephone number during working hours.
Victor
