Can anyone help me to find this marriage? William Skinner was born on December 17th, 1737 in Long Clawson. He married Ann, but I don't know her last name or where or when they were married. William's parents were William Skinner, born in 1704 in Long Clawson and Dorothy Wells.
I've checked the Long Clawson Parish records but they didn't marry there so I guess Ann was from another village.
Thanks from Ottawa..........Brian

there are 2 william Skinner marriages in Long Clawson on freereg:
24/11/1836 William Skinner = Ann Merry
8/12/1729 William Skinner = Mary Guy
the first matches your names but is more likely a son /grandson? of your william.
wonder whether the 2nd one is a first marriage for william snr? (husband of Dorothy)
btw have you seen these records?

freereg has that marriage with William living in Granby, Notts at the time of marriage - labourer so could still be him if working there - not far from langar / LC

Hi Diddy: I think you are right and that Ann Freeman was my relative. I've seen that record before but couldn't be absolutely certain. But with Langar being so close it looks very likely.
Regarding your other suggestions, I believe it's possible that Wm. Snr. may have been married before Dorothy, he was 29 when he married her, but I can't find death notices for Mary Skinner or Mary Guy, at least ones that fit those dates. My line is definitely descended through Dorothy though. The William who married Ann Merry was probably a nephew. And thanks for including the Long Clawson records, I had already seen them but I appreciate your pointing them out.
I also appreciate your making me aware of freereg. I had no knowledge of it before today, so I'll be checking some other concerns there.
Thanks again for taking the time to find this information and for passing it on, next time I'm in Leicestershire I'll buy you a pint!
