Hi, I'm looking for the Keene or Keen family in the Cencuses please. They are
 Keene, Samuel b 1920 ???
 "      , Jane b 1925, Melksham, Wiltshire
 "      , James b 1845,  "               "

There could be more children, but I can't connect them to this family.
Would appreciate any help that I can get.
 Thanks.
 Grannys42. ;D

James is not there in 1851.

 1851 Census
 Bedwelty, Monmouthshire, Wales
Samuel KEEN, 20, Head, Mar, Miner, born Briton, Wiltshire
Jane, 27, Wife, Mar, born Aberdare, Glamorgan
Amie, 10mths, Daug, born Bedwelty (image is Anne)

 Marriage Reg;
Samuel KEEN, Sept 1847, Merthyr Tydfil, 26 487
On the same page is Jane GEORGE

I see on Familysearch Samuel/Jane are in Ohio in 1900 Census,
 Married 52 yrs. Emigrated 1866.
Ohio Death Reg for MARTHA Burbick nee Keen in 1948 has Parents a Samuel/Jane nee George.

So James was born before the Marriage and does not seem to emigrate with the rest of the Family.
Was he Illeg or just born to Sam/Jane before the Marriage I wonder?

There are some births and deaths here that may match the children of Samuel & Jane:  http://www.rootschat.com/links/0kfa/

You can see the 1900 Census here:  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MMCG-NZR  It says that Jane had 14 children, 9 of whom were living.

They appear to be mistranscribed as Kern in the 1880 Census:  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MZ1G-GQM

You're welcome.  I think they might be listed under King in 1870:  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M6VV-JVW

				Hi rarebit.

Hopefully grannys42 will get notification of your reply. They were last on her in 2017.

I am glad you cleared up who James was and what happened to him :)
