I am looking for the family of Benjamin & Mary Smetzer. Benjamin was born in Cripplegate and would be aged 40 in 1861. I don't know if there are any children in '61 but there is at least 2 ( Blanche & Selby) in '71
Thanks

This is the only match I can see on 1861 and as you haven't posted details from1871 I have nothing to cross reference it with.
If this isn't your man perhaps we could have 1871 information. ;)
The image is dreadful and address looks like 90 Oxford or Orford Street
Benjamin Smitzer 1829 London, Middlesex, Head Hosiery Salesman Chorlton upon Medlock Lancashire
Mary Smitzer 1826 London, Middlesex, Wife Artifical Florist Chorlton upon Medlock Lancashire
Ada Bertha Smitzer 1860 Manchester Daughter Chorlton upon Medlock Lancashire
Mary Fitzgereald 1840 Ireland Servant Chorlton upon Medlock Lancashire
They obviously get around judging by daughter's birthplace

That is my man.
I don't have anymore info for 1871 except that there are three children by then Ada Bertha born 1860, Selby born 1863 and Blanche born 1867. Maybe they are at Pimlico as this is where the 1881 census says that Blanche was born. By the 1881 Benjamin is dead and Mary and the 3 children are at St George Bloomsbury, London.
Thanks

HI Tricia
As you said these are the correct spelling. Benjamin was spelt Smitzer on the 61 and smelzer on the 71. Joseph was spelt schmetzer on 71. Joseph was the one I was really hoping you would find on the 61. He is my great grandfather and I have nothing between his baptism in 1827 and the 1871 census.

I have looked for Joseph using forename, age and birthplace with wide variations and cannot find him. Quite annoying :-\

Hi
I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and wondering whether you're still looking for this information or found in the meantime? If you're still looking, do you have any further information that might help locate it and specify the information you're now missing.
If I don't hear from you in a while I'll move this to 'Completed' assuming the information is no longer required.
