Hi guys...
I ain't been on here for a while, but i'm in need of a little help....I'm researching all the old pubs and Inns that used to be in and around Toddington, i have a book about the village that was first published in 1925, and in it, it states there used to be an old Inn at Dropshort, which is on the parish border, but it doesn't give a name.....if anyone knows how i might aquire the info i need, i'd very much appreciate it....or if anyone's researching these sort of all buildings around Bedfordshire, and knows what it was called...that'd be great....
Cheers All

Hi,
I run the deadpubs site. As a start I always use the historical directories site to get an idea of any area. I only cover a small part of Bedfordshire so far, but this and census, and thena major google search including what genuki have to offer is always good.

The Royal George Inn ?
Then I realised that you may have meant
DROPSHOLT not DROPSHORT ?
So, going south out of Toddington, east of Dropsholt Farm is
The Fancott
I think this was called
White Hart run by Fred Marlow (Kellys 1914)
You should be able to find him on 1911 census
1901 Fancote(Public House) Elizabeth Wilson
The Marlow family are in Mill(Hill?) Farm
1891 Fancote(White Hart) George Dean

Hi.
Don't think there was ever a pub at Dropshort, but Dropshort Farm is on the road out of Toddington (A5120) heading for Houghton Regis & Dunstable. My grandfather was born at and later for a time ran Dropshort Farm. I think the actual farmhouse has been converted to a private house and I believe the some of the fields may now be part of a fairly new golf course. Haven't been that way for some time.

Richard

Definitely DROPSHORT never heard of Dropsholt?
The Fancott Arms referred to is on another road out of Toddington towards Luton (B579) it's at the bottom of the hill close to the junction with the B530.

Hi all
Richie and I have some of it "sorted"
Streetmaps has an error on "Dropsholt"
If you zoom in max then Dropsholt changes to Dropshort
Still can't prove Ezekial's original question !
