Hi All
I am trying to trace this MITCHELL family:
I have Timothy Mitchell b1866 Ireland married to Ellen Brown b 1868 Widnes:
*have him on 1881 census - Cuerdely
*have him married to Ellen 1890 - Prescot (Widnes)
*have him and family on 1891 census - Widnes
*have him and family on 1901 census - Widnes
Then poof.....nothing! Not him or any of the family ??? ???
*have death 1922 - Prescot
Any ideas as to why I cannot find any of them?
TIA

hi,,,we are not allowed to do 1911 census look ups,,,,,are you saying you have access to the 1911 census, but have not found them?
All i can tell you is that they are there,,,minus his wife Ellen,,who has died. :)

Good morning,
Trouble finding a Mitchell! then try this site; http://www.devon-mitchells.co.uk/ He has a huge data base of them, world wide not just devon. Plus connections to other Mitchell archivists.

I would suggest you look for them on the 1911. Then you'll need to check local directories/electoral rolls for the family (these will not be online). Widnes was in the registration district of Prescot at the time. Do you have the death certificate? If yes checking just that address will be much easier for you.
The free index on FindMyPast shows only one Timothy Mitchell of the correct age living within the Prescot registration district. If you then put Widnes in the the residence box on the search form he again shows so must be living in Widnes.

Found details on a Timothy Mitchell, died aged 52, 05/04/1922, at The Prescot Union Institute, but being buried from 24 Water Street,Widnes.
I could not find anymore Mitchells who had been living at that address so I can only assume he could have had a married daughter living there at the time.
