My wife's father was an MD attached to the 8th Army as far as we can accertain he was with the 8th through N Africa and up into Europe, dont have his service number any advice on how we find his service records...

If by ' MD ' you mean Doctor, then he would have been an officer and his records would still be held by the MOD at the Army Personel Centre. You can contact the centre via a link in the museum site.

The RAMC Museum will hold no personal records but may provide a good deal of background and other detail. There's a research link on its home page.

Medical officers serving in the Army, 1660-1960, are listed in A Peterkin, W Johnston and R Drew, Commissioned officers in the medical services of the British Army, 2 vols (1968) - this gives a very brief service history with promotion dates, but I suspect you'll already know all that this book can deliver.
