Title: Lobban/Reid/Pirie/Innes/Farquhar
Post by: Discoveringmypast on Friday 17 February 12 00:34 GMT (UK)
Hi, I'm researching the family tree for my cousin. Her late husband's family came from the Banffshire area, including Buckie/Port Gordon.

Up to now the main surnames I have been researching are: Lobban, Reid (on both sides which makes it confusing), Pirie and Innes.

On the Lobban (paternal) side I've got as far back as James Lobban born approx 1780, Cullen.

On the maternal side I've been able to get as far back as Elspet Reid born approx 1786, Rathven and her death records show her parents were William Reid and Margaret Farquhar.

Farquhar is a new name for me and I've been trying to find records of when William and Margaret married, their approx births etc to try to go back further but without much success.

Any advice and help on this and any of the names would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards
Sue

Hi
I have just come across your post. Would you have my interest in your research of Jane "Jeannie" Pirie of Banff who married Samuel Gordon?

Hi Sue, don't know if you've seen this site but might help.

Thank you both for your replies, I've just picked them up.

Faraway - sorry no, as yet I haven't found a connection in the tree I've been researching with your Jane 'Jeannie' Pirie or Samuel Gordon but I'll let you know if I do.

Whenu - thank you for the link to the site, I haven't come across it before so I'll take a look.  I had taken a break from this tree for a while and the combination of names on both sides of the family was very confusing and frustrating!

Thank you both again.
Sue
