I am researching the wall family and am looking for birth of Joseph Wall around 1813 in Herefordshire or Worcestershire. He married Elizabeth Holmes possibly in Aston Birmingham before 1837. In 1841 he was living in Aston Birmingham and had son Richard aged 3. Their third son William Wall was my GGD. Any help greatly appreciated

LDS give a christening of a Joseph Wall on 28th May 1813 at Pencombe, Hereford. Father John Wall, Mother Ann.

Many thanks for this reply. I had found this entry but do not think it is my ancestor as the names John and Ann do not appear again in my family tree . In 1871 census Joseph Wall gives his place of birth as Hereford P_idge, unfortunately the writing is bad and I thought it may be Pembridge but as yet have not been able to confirm this. If I could find marriage evidence of Joseph Wall and Elizabeth Holmes pre 1837 it may help me.

Hi romanby and glossoplass,
I've tried to work out what the 1871 says too, by isolating the word I thought I could read PenBridge (Pembridge). Now I look again I can see Penkridge, which is obviously in Staffordshire - so not much help really.

Many thanks Pels
it is a shame that I seem to have an ancestor Joseph wall who is not sure where he was born!
1841 Census for Aston Birmingham says not born in this county
1851 Census for Aston Birmingham says Worcester Worcestershire
1861 Census says Herefordshire NK - (I suspect that means not known)
1871 Census Says Hereford P----idge
He died in Birmingham in 1873
Without travelling to various record offices in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and possibly Staffordshire I think that there is little else i can do.
