Hi
I am looking for info about my gggg grandfather Anthony White. I know little about him other than his daughter Ann (or Hannah) described him as a "pensioner at Greenwich Hospital" on her marriage certificate to James Ryant in 1852. She was born in Lambeth Surrey in abt 1806, so presumably Anthony lived there then.
Can anyone tell me if the Greenwich Pensioner records are online anywhere. I have seen the pamphlets in the National Archives, but I am in New Zealand so cannot visit to search for myself.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Fran

According to the website of the Greenwich Hospital, there are no records available online.
A manual search of the relevant section at TNA needs to be undertaken.

Hi
There is an online index for Greenwich Hospital Entry Books 1824-1853 taken from ADM 73/58
http://www.britishmedals.us/kevin/greenwich.html
If he is on the index you will get some basic information from it such as date of entry to the Hospital, age and place of birth.

It's amazing what you find whilst looking through posts which you think have no relevance to you. I've just had a look at Valda's link and found one of my ancestors about whom I had no information at all. I've been searching for over 2 years for this person . I now know when and where he was born and his last place of residence.
Thanks Valda!! ;D

Thanks Valda, a very useful link, but sadly no trace of him! Am beginning to suspect he didn't exist!! Will keep looking though.

Hi
There is a baptism around the same time period, though not the same area, which has an Anthony White as the father.
27th February 1814 St George in the East Middlesex born 14th February
Mary Ann White parents Anthony and Ann, Anchor and Hope Alley, father's occupation mariner
A Hannah White did have two illegitimate daughters baptised in Lambeth in 1804 and 1811 (might not be the same Hannah) both at the General Lying in Hospital.

Hi Valda,
Thanks for your efforts, the first one looks like a good possibility, I will look into it further, perhaps something will pop up that makes the link :-)
Thanks again

Hi
The second two are also a possibility if she was illegitimate - her father being possibily Anthony a mariner just not Anthony White. Less likely though on the marriage of a widow because she doesn't need to hide the fact her father does not have the same surname as her own as she marries in her married name.
