I'm seeking further information re a Moses Barnett from Ballyculter/Strangford who was the father of Jane Barnett. Moses Barnett died sometime before the marriage of his daughter Jane Barnett who married William Hoey on 20th June 1842. William Hoey was a Wesleyan Minister in Dungannon at the time of the marriage. any information re spouses, siblings and children of any of the above would be much appreciated. thanks.

There's information on Moses on this site. He was a corn mill owner and died in 1830.

Hi Elwyn,
thanks for your reply. I had already come across this info on Ros Davies's fantastic Co. Down website and have also come across a record of an indenture between Moses Barnett and others from 1828 at http://ied.dippam.ac.uk/records/44920
These two pieces of info tally with each other as the indenture records his wife as Elizabeth Kearns.
However, also on Ros's site I have come across a reference to a Catherine Press of Ballyculter who married Moses Barnett c 1814 and who is buried in Old Court chapel graveyard. are we therefore talking about two different Moses Barnetts, possibly father and son? If so, which one is which and which is the father of Jane Barnett, my great-great grandmother?
perhaps this could be clarified if there is some kind soul out there who could check out the graves at Old Court graveyard in Strangford where all seem to be buried?
thanks again.

Hi,
There is a will, complete with image, for a Moses Francis Barnett who died in 1868. He died in Co. Tyrone but had connections with Co. Down. See http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx
