Title: looking for address
Post by: Atlanta1 on Friday 10 February 12 14:18 GMT (UK)
Hi how do I find the exact address of someone who lived in Hawes Road, Bromley Kent between 1920 and 1930?  I only have the surname!

Post office directories?
Telephone directories?
House numbers and even street names may have changed over the years - are you hoping to locate the house today? Houses in smaller towns/villages may not have had numbers (I don't know if this is the case with your address).
If the person you are searching for is now deceased, and you wish to give their name, someone may be able to help you.

Hi Atlanta1

I see that you live in Bromley, which has to be easier than searching from the other side of the world   ::) :o

You could see if your library has a copy of the electoral register for any of the years in question.  I think they are listed by road, not name, but at least you know which road you are looking for!

If not, try your nearest Local/Family History Society for advice.

If it's only head of household you want, there are some Bromley directories online which might help if you don't have yet the info http://archive.library.bromley.gov.uk/dserve/Commercialstreetdirectories.htm
