Was searching for something completely different when I happened across the following Dail Ceisteanna (Parliamentary Question) dating from 25 April 1956. It lists the names of persons from Co. Longford in receipt of Old I.R.A. Service Pensions under:
a) the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924
b) the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934
c) the Military Service Pensions Act, 1949
d) the Army Pensions Acts

Great post. Maureen MacGuinness and Brigid MacGuinness on the list were my mother's sisters. Maureen's pension was £15/12/6 and Brigid's was £10/12/6 - presumably because she was younger and was less able to contribute. My mother, Maggie, and my father also had pensions from serving in Longford but were living in Dublin by the time the pensions were awarded. The pension applications detailing applicants activities are kept in the Military Archive of Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, and are a wonderful source.

Related to this there are some Longford Old IRA photos (The McGuinness Collection) compiled on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK0cLMKJhqE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK0cLMKJhqE)
Some are identified, including Sean MacEoin who was Minister for Defence in the Dail answer of the original post in this stream. The poster is seeking identification of others.
