I wonder if anyone could help me trace Robert Henry McCann born East Stonehouse Plymouth England on (*) and who, I understand, emigrated to Australia in the 1950s. His parents were Robert Henry McCann and Violet (nee Joll) and his sister was. I haven't been able to trace him on any ship lists I have found, I have even tried American list. Would be grateful for any help or leads. Many thanks

Hello Marjorie.
Do you know of Robert's death? If not, we can't help with posting information about people who may still be living. :-\

Hi there,
The ship AUSTRALIS departed Southampton on 9 March 1966 and some of the names of the people you mention are listed at the National Archives of Australia's website as travelling on that voyage under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme. It is likely that they are still living, so I have not typed up their names.
Here is the link to the website, search as a guest.

I have asked a moderator to move your post from the Australia Lookups completed board.
Cheers, JM

Hi - thank you both very much for your help. Yes that is the right family! I do not know if Robert Henry is alive or not - is there any way I can trace his possible death in Australia? The National Archives, Australia, shows location (on the record search giving his travel details) as Canberra - I presumed this to be where he disembarked but now think it is possibly where the records are kept? So I am not sure where they lived. Also how can I trace his son's possible marriage please. I haven't looked at the family history for about 5 years, and cannot remember whats what - old age! :(
