Welcome to RootsChat, mikenash :)
This thread was initiated by jericho in May 2005.
The marriage found by LH was in Coolcappagh RC Church.
Coolcappagh townland west of Rathkeale.

Is this Hilderthorpe - an area of Bridlington and former civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England?

Hi guys
Michael Nash (how he spells it) the son of Richard Nash/Naish and Margaret Foran (Horan?) emigrated to New Zealand with a half-brother. He says "at the age of eleven" in 1887, probably on the ship "Kaikoura"
He's my grandfather. I know a moderate amount about him and plenty about his descendants.
He's photographed here in Hilderthorpe, Otago, New Zealand. By one of life's coincidences, his wife, Margaret Anne (nee Brown) is the daughter of a gentleman who came from Hull - just inland from Hilderthorpe in England, I think
Here he is later in life standing in his garden
I can help with what details I have. Cheers, Mike

Hey LH, thanks very much for this. That is where "Fitzgerald" comes into the picture, as Michael Nash/Naish and some half-siblings I think, are sponsored on their birth/baptismal certificates by the Fitzgerald family. Cheers

Hilderthorpe in Bridlington about 35 km north of Hull (Kingston upon Hull).
