Have a Bible dating back to 1551 that belonged to Rob Armstrong from the Scottish/English Border. Trying to find the Armstrongs from Terwinney or Brookborough. Any information would be greatly appreciated. New to this site and think that someone can guide us.

Hello - my grandfather is Robert Armstrong Caldow who emigrated to Australia circa 1912. He married May Isabella Byrne in WA.
Robert's mother was Helen Armstrong.
Last year my wife Janet and I travelled back to Kirkudbright not far from Dumfies.
Whilst very interested in the Armstrong bible and what it may contain there is a brilliant museum within Kirkudbright town who were very helpful to us and I think they could assist.
Regards

The ARMSTRONG's were Border Reivers originally.
They were hunted down by James I of England, some were killed and others planted in Ulster.
The freeholder of Fermanagh was the Brooke family and he granted leases to many ARMSTRONG's to collect his rents and protect his property.
Later came the Scots-Irish mass emigration to the USA.

This site claims to take the Armstrongs of Terwinney, Fermanagh back to 1480.
This Armstrong family left Kilnockie, Scotland in 1650.
They settled first in Brookborough, Fermanagh, then Terwinney, Ederney in Magheraculmoney.

John Armstrong was my 3rd great grandfather. Born abt 1830. Married a Philina/Phinena. His son's obituary claims they immigrated to St. John New Brunswick Canada in 1877 from Ireland. However John & Philina were originally from Scotland before relocating to Ireland.
Would anyone have any info on this family?
