Title: Strain's in Bessbrook

Hi anyone any info on a family of Strain's who lived in Bessbrook went there from Donaghadee Co Down.

Names are George Strain father, Mary mother, children Hugh, George, Samuel, Maggie, Mamie, Nellie and Ida.  George was born around late 1870's but was still in the down area on the 1911 census so it would have been after this when he moved to Bessbrook

Here's a link to the family in 1911 census with some of the children- perhaps George and Nellie are the 2 children who died before 1911?:

Although, the details don't quite match with the 1901 census details-

    Closest I can come to your name is a William George Strain who Married Mary Heron on 17 Jan 1898 in Shore Street Presbyterian Church, Donaghadee, Co. Down

Yes this is the person I wrote about I know about his life in the Co Down area it is what happened to the family when they moved to Bessbrook.  Is any of the family still there.

Barbarax - are you on Facebook? If so there is a Bessbrook page where people from Bessbrook interact. Ask to join the group and then ask about the Strains. If there is a Strain family in Bessbrook someone will know. I'm a member (my mother lives in Bessbrook) but I'm not aware of any. Hope this helps.

my name is michelle and im george strain's grandaughter. he was bron 1912 and moved to north wales where he married jean evans and had 6 chlidren. he is the son of george and mary strain. im currently looking at the family tree and would like any information. i have loads of family photos of grandfather and 2 photos pf mary . any info is welcomed
