Title: CLOSED: Marriage - Moore HAMILTON and Lizzie CHAMBERS
Post by: Irish girl 1987 on Saturday 04 February 12 16:22 GMT (UK)
I have a letter from Karramomous dated 27/3/04 referring to the marriage of Moore HAMILTON and Lizzie CHAMBERS in November 1903.

Would anyone be able to help identify the parents of the bride and groom? The mother of one may be LOWRY or M'CLEAN (or a variation of same).

Thank you Neil and Kevin.

I found a record of the marriage of Eliza Jane and Moore using https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search

The details are minimal however it confirmed that the marriage dates match:

Bride:                   Eliza Jane CHAMBERS
Groom:                 Moore HAMILTON
Birth Place:           Glenhope
Date of marriage:  1903
Reg number:         7012

Moore's death certificate has certainly answered the question of how he fits into my family tree. The letter is to my great grand uncle and Moore is referred to as his cousin so his mother Matilda would be a great great grand aunt of mine.

Thanks again for all your help
Title: Devenny-Lowry of Ballylevin

Dear Irish Girl 1987: Read your post with great interest about Anne Devenny, wife of David Devenny of Ballylevin, mother of Moses and James in the 1901 and 1911 census. My husband is her great-great grandson. Do you know who William Lowry is who is living next door to them in the censuses?  I can't tell for sure from your postings.  This is my first time posting: can we exchange private e-mails?  Thanks!!
Title: Jane and David Devenney - Ballylevin, Co. Donegal

Based on a will on PRONI for a David Devenny who died February 15th 1889 with a wife named Jane and son named Moses (See: http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx  (http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx)) Jane appears to live next door to William (one of the confirmed children of Moses) in 1901. Jane dies sometime before 1911 but two of her sons, Moses and James, are shown to be living in the house in 1911. I will add Jane's marriage to my growing list of marriage certificates to order.

Hi hezekiah259,

Is the above the post you are referring to? Jane and David Devenney? I don't think you can engage in private messages until you've made a few more public posts. Which of Jane and David's children is your husband descended from?

I'm thrilled for your reply!  Still getting used to the set-up here! My husband is descended from Jane and David's son Moses and his wife Matilda Rodgers Devenny, and then through their son James Lowry (my husband's granddad).  I'd be happy to furnish you with further details.  How are you related?
