Hello! I am a new member as I am trying to find the mother of a friend from Belfast. My friend is 76 now and has Parkinson's disease so is not good at the computer. She was born * in 1935 in Belfast to Ida May Dunn and Andrew Cecil Dunn. She was given up for adoption at a few weeks old and brought to England immediately. Her adopted parents' marriage broke up two years later and she was put into a children's home and has been unable to trace her mother ever since. Ida was born in 1904 in Belfast, married in 1929 and her husband remarried a few years after * was born. Any information on her mother's history would be gratefully received as there are so many unanswered questions.
Thanks, Joyce

Adoption can be a very difficult issue both for the adopted child and adopted family as well as the blood relatives, some of which may not know the details of what happened years ago. Therefore, if anyone can help Joyce with information they should contact her by PM (Personal Message) rather than replying online.
Joyce- you'll need to have 3 posts to make sure the PM system will work for you. Another member was in touch earlier and I have a few more details if you are interested but I'd need to send them by PM so don't forget to post twice more here.

Joyce knows of two trees on genes which had Ida's details but the members are not now contactable so there has been research on this name.
Just post two more messages here joyce just to acnowledge these posts will do and then you will be able to send and receive messages by PM here.
Remember not to use any names of living people when posting here as it is against the rules.

Hi everyone,
Not sure if I am following the correct instructions but here is another message re Ida May Dunn. Her husband Andrew Cecil remarried a few years after my friend was born. I have seen the marriage cert but cannot remember the date. He stated that he was a batchelor (remarrying) ad not a widower. We had wondered if Ida had died in childbirth in 1935 but not sure.

Does anyone out there have any more info on this lady, please. She was born in Belfast in 1904, married in 1929 but it looks as if the marriage may not have lasted. I am trying to find out when and where she died. Her husband was Andrew Cecil Dunn. I know that there is a tree on Genes with it on but owners are not replying.
Cheers,
Joyce

I am still trying to find out what happened to Ida after 1935. It looks as if her marriage did not last and her daughter, born in 1935 was given up for adoption at a few weeks old. The person who signed the adoption cert. was David Martin Kelly. I would just like to know if Ida remarried and when and where she died. Does anyone have any info please?
Thanks, Joyce

I wonder if anyone could look up an electoral register for me as I live in England. I would like to know who was registered in the address, Sun Rose, Millisle, Newtonards in 1935. We think. Ida's husband Andrew C Dunn should be there and we would like to know if Ida was there too.
Does anyone know if we could find the address of Ida's mother who gave birth to my friend in July 1935 at Ards Hospital, if she was not at Millisle, from hospital records? I suspect not but asked the question anyway.
Thanks, Joyce

Is anyone able to look up an electoral register for me, please, as I live in NE England? I would like to know the inhabitants of Sun Rose, Millisle, Newtonards in 1935.
I am trying to find any info on Ida May Dunn, nee Gamble, b. 1904 Belfast, on behalf of her daughter who was adopted out in 1935 at a few weeks old. Ida married Andrew C Dunn in 1929 but we suspect marriage did not last. We would love to know what happened to Ida in her latter years, where she lived and died, did she remarry? The name David Martin Kelly was on my friend's adoption cert. Any info gratefully appreciated. My friend was born in 1935 at Ards hospital.
Thanks, Joyce

Hello, This is a retry as it is a long time since my first attempt and I am hoping that new members may be able to help.
I am looking for any info on Ida May Dunn, b. Belfast 1904 and who married Andrew Cecil Dunn in 1929. Marriage possibly did not last. Ida had daughter in 1935 and gave her up for adoption. Daughter was brought to England, is now 77 and in ill health and would love to know any details as to what happened to her mother. GRONI have no details on remarriage or death. Brick wall is getting higher. Can anyone help, please?
Regards,
Joyce

Thanks, gaffy. I've merged this latest topic with the existing thread and crossed out the link.
Joyce- as I've explained several times already, there's no reason to start another topic looking for Ida- duplicate threads cause needless confusion and extra work for those trying to help. Search engines, such as Google, will pick up Rootschat posts, as well as other forums you've posted on.
Lots of help and suggestions to follow up given here (and on your other bbc forum threads)-

Hello Joyce
It is obvious from all your various posts here and elsewhere, how anxious you are to help your friend with her quest and you are to be applauded for such devotion to the task. Not sure if anyone else has done so or not for you already, but in case they haven't, I have today sent contact emails to the two people on Genes, George and Noreen, who, as you already know, both seem to have the same Ida in their research. Whilst they may not reply, it is always worth a try.
:)
ps I have also used Genes to contact a Warren who may have the 1931 Carrickfergus birth (mentioned in some of your posts elsewhere) in his research too.

Thank you for your replies. It is after 1935 I am hoping to find her but have drawn a complete blank so far, even with GRONI. Just thought that a new member might have their memory jogged. Have tried to contact Genes members before but o no avail.
Thanks, Joyce
