Any ideas how to find out more information about Joseph Hopkins. I got the basics from a shared tree on Ancestry so I'm not sure about accuracy.

FamilySearch (the new version) has more India records than the IGI. I found a baptism in this name. The entry gives a birth date of 26 Aug 1824, baptism 1824 at Kana in the Bombay Presidency, parents George & Maria.

He appears to be the only child of this couple whose baptism is recorded on that site at the moment.

The same site records a marriage at Kaira, (also Bombay presidency) between George Hopkins (widower) & Maria Cowley 25 Feb 1822. Kaira appears to be a variant used for Kheda. Whether this is the same couple would need more research. It is also possible that Kana is a misread for Kaira - again more research around as many records as possible may clarify.
