Hi
I wonder if anyone can help look for George Henry Tyers born (according to 1911 census) born in1879 in Uppingham he was a bricklayer
Also according to his marriage certificate in 1898 to Sarah Spence his father was William a bricklayers labourer
many thanks
rob

I think this is him in 1881?
Reference RG11, Piece 2549, Folio 31, Page 19
Meeting Lane, Uppingham
Simms, John T Head M 56 Farm Labourer
Simms, Maria Wife F 47 b Seaton, Rutlandshire
Tyers, George Boarder M 25 Farm Labourer
Tyers, Fanny M Stepdaughter F 14
Tyers, George A Stepson M 11 Scholar
Tyers, Anthony G Stepson M 9 Scholar
Simms, Emma B Daughter F 5
Simms, Henry C Son M 3 All born Uppingham, except where shown
I can't see any other George Tyers, b Uppingham, so I assume the enumerator mistook an H for an A?
-
I dont think that is the right one as he is George Anthony Tyers Reg Sept 1879, Uppingham.
With Parents GEORGE/MARIA (born c 1844 Seaton) in 1881
Trish :)
-
He could be under HARRY Tyers age 2, born c 1879 Uppingham in 1881 with Parents WILLIAM (Gen Lab) 1852 Uppingham, Rutland and RACHEL c1850 Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire.
1891 William seems to be Widowed, Bricklayers Lab, and living in Leics
RG12/2542/86/23
-
As George Married Sarah Spence 1898 in Leics I looked for him there in 1891 Census as he is not with Father William, with no luck.
-
Lots of Family Trees for George with few Census details and they ARE hard to find;

-
i cant seem to find any williams with a sister sarah as per his 1891 and 1901 census
even on family search their parents dont tally
rather confusing family
-
I agree I tried that search also.
-
Ok the William aged 1 in 1861 maybe Ameys Illeg Son as in 1871 Census she is Married to Isaac ASPITAL
They have a 12 year old Son William but they didnt Marry til 1862
Marriage FreeBMD;
Amy TYERS, Sept 1862, Uppingham
On same page is Isaac Aspital
So wheres William 1849 in 1861 Census??
-
As I said earlier the M/C of William and Rachel is crucial.
If you have contact with others who have Trees of this Family do any of them actually have the M/C?
We may be heading down the wrong track otherwise.
I was just sure it was correct because of the Rutland then Leics move of the Family but now am not so sure.
-
But Amy/Isaac are in Leics also in 1871.
Very confusing but at least I found George for you in 1901 ;)
-
I cant thank you enough for helping me with this Trish 1120
This family is very confusing and looking at the census records vs family search and ancestry does not all tie in together
I am trying to contact some people on ancestry who have a tree and to see if they have any certificates
Once again thanks for your time and effort Trish 1120

Let us know the outcome please :)

i just found William in cheadle, staffordshire and a lodger with him is Sarah busby, although i can still find no marriage for a tyers to busby and i cant find anywhere with William and Sarah as brother and sister
i have also just looked through the military records and found Walter's record by this time he is married to maria hallam but lists he has 4 brothers 1st must be James .. not clear 2nd William of 29 ? 3rd harry 21 alfred st and john
he also states his father is William but address not known
Walter enlisted in 1900 and ended his army career in 1919
-
Sarah A Busby and Wm Tyers ( down as Wm Tyers, born c 1851, Uppingham, Leicester) are still together in 1911
Now could Sarah have Married and been Widowed and then take up with/marry a Busby/Bushby in a few short years?
Marriage FreeBMD;
Sarah A TYERS, March 1883, Uppingham, 71 459
Spouses Thomas MUNTON, Samuel COX
Although Sarah A Bushby is down as Single in 1891 and George as a adopted Son.
Very confusing ::)
-
How many Tyers families were there in Uppingham. I have a member of another one - Arthur (b abt 1859) the son of Henry and Charlotte Tyers and brother of WIlliam (b abt 1857) living in Meeting Lane in the 1861 census. He has a slight tangential involvement with my own familes!
