Title: Geneva, Switzerland, 1924 burial record?
Post by: Glanelly on Tuesday 31 January 12 21:34 GMT (UK)
Hi
I wonder whether someone could help or advise me about finding a burial record for Alec John Butt Thompson  who died 25th January 1924 at the Pension Dupois in Geneva.  He was 24 years old at the time.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Glanelly

Thanks very much, Gill.  I am actually making this enquiry for a friend and I believe he already had this information. He would like to know the precise burial date in Geneva, if at all possible.
Thanks again.

Sorry, didn't see the "burial Geneva".

I do know that someone on here managed to obtain information on a UK citizen's death in Switzerland but cannot remember who it was.

However, I typed "UK Citizen died Geneva, death certificate?" and came across one or two forums who gave this address:

Office Municipal de l'Etat Civil
37 rue de la Mairie
Case Postale 6327
1211 GENEVE 6
Switzerland

email address; etat-civil@ville-ge.ch

I believe they are very helpful and will most likely speak English if you prefer.

I think this is for deaths in Geneva town. If it was outside Geneva, they may still be able to help you.

It's worth a try - you could also type in what I did, or similar, and see what comes up.

Gill,
It was me who suggested the line of enquiry that led to success!
This was the thread, and it was in Bern:

But it could give Glanelly a steer.
