I am posting this in the hope that someone could help now, but also in the future. These boards have been brilliant for helping me to track down distant relations in the past that way.
OK, I am trying to find out any information that might be out there on Percy Gregory, who was working as a veterinary surgeon in Tonbridge High Street around 1918. I have looked up the census records (which would approximate his birth year as 1866) and found a few things here and there (a 1914 Kelly's, a little something in the London Gazette) but other than that I know very little about him. I'm VERY VERY keen to hear from researchers who have him in their tree. Although he appears to have married later in life, I don't think he had any children.
Does anyone know when he died, whether there was an obit written about him in the local paper (he would have been a pretty well known individual in the community working as a vet)? I'd also be REALLY keen to see a photo of him.
In anticipation

Hi
There is a probate record as follows
Gregory Percy of Tonbridge died 8 May 1925 at Hever Lodge Hever Kent. Probate London 4 th July 1925 to Gertrude Gregory Widow.
Freebmd gives his age as 69 when he died .
This would give him a birthdate of c 1856 which tallies with details in 1911.
Best wishes

Thanks so much! That's great. Amazing what another pair of eyes can do! I'll look up that probate record.
Of course, I was a dunce about his birth year - you were right that it was 1856. I need a maths lesson! In the 1911 census, was his address 186 High Street, Tonbridge?

Nooooo!!!
I was busy looking for Percy Gregory, and not Gregory Percy?!?!
-
You were right.. Percy Gregory it is!
-
I'm still confused!

LOL...!
You were right the first time...! It was Percy Gregory and the entry on the index you searched had his surname first, ie Gregory, Percy. When I put my posting on, I made the mistake of putting his birth year as 1866 instead of 1856, which is right (and what you said!).
