Title: Cheshire, FRODSHAM, Churchyard Inscriptions
Post by: Twdyr on Monday 30 January 12 16:23 GMT (UK)
I know this has had an airing some while ago, but I live some distance from Frodsham. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Churchyard Inscriptions for St Lawrence Church, Frodsham? I am looking for only one family surname in particular.

Any help or advice gratefully received.

Many thanks !

Hello Twdyr,

To my knowledge the MI's haven't been published - the only transcription I have ever seen is a hand written one held at Cheshire Records Office so you could be out of luck unless there are plans to publish them.  You could drop them an email to see if they know of any other copies...

Hello Jean,

Many thanks for your reply and helpful suggestion. The Cheshire Record Office seems a good starting point and I will drop them an email, as well as Cheshire FHS.

Thanks again for your interest.

Philip

What name and date are you after?
Some M.I's were recorded in 1969 http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/chs/churches/frodsham.html

Hi Shep
Thanks for your suggestions which I will follow up. I am looking for the JENKINS family from 1830's, in particular Robert Jenkins who died in 1867.

Many thanks for your advice

Philip

I can't see that the MI's have been filmed by the LDS (Shep's second link) - there is a film of the grave index and transcriptions though that would also be very useful.

The catalogue is searchable here: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp

If anyone knows any different please let me know.

Thanks,

Jean

I am looking for the JENKINS family from 1830's,

Just for info, there are no JENKINS baptisms, marriages or burials prior to 1812 in St.Lawrence, Frodsham (I have a copy of the transcribed registers from 1558 - 1812).

Good Luck.

Hi Shep

Thanks for that, and it confirms my suspicions. Robert Jenkins was born in Guilden Sutton 1799, and moved to Frodsham (Manley) in the 1820's/30's, where he, and subsequent generations lived.

That is a useful piece of information - thank you !

Regards
Philip

I found this thread while looking for inormation on this church and wondered if anyone would be able to help with a look up?

I am looking for any inscription for the Baxter family:
Catherine Baxter (d. 1806)
Martha Baxter (d. 1815)
Robert Baxter (d. 1820)
and any other Baxters!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Karen,

Looking at the given Baxter names, these Frodsham baptisms may be useful.
Catherine Baxter 19/10/1794
Martha Baxter 19/1/1780 or 1781
Robert Baxter 23/9/1781
They are all children of Robert Baxter/Martha - possible Frodsham marriage 20/11/1776 Robert Baxter & Martha Norcott.

It maybe unrelated, but on my tree I have an 1853 Frodsham marriage for Martha Norcott (1821) & Samuel Fletcher (1812). Their son Samuel Fletcher married Mary Augusta Jenkins in 1879 Frodsham. Mary Augusta is the daughter of our relative Robert Jenkins (1832 & Mary Snelson (1834)

There are a number of Baxter families in the Alvanley area - pretty close to Frodsham.

I came across this as well - Robert Baxter of Alvanley married Ann Morrow on 26/8/1752 Frodsham. There is a possible Frodsham baptism 26/8/1755 for a Robert Baxter, son of Robert & Ann Baxter.

Apologies if you already know this.
All good wishes,
Philip Jenkins

Apologies, Twdyr, as I just realised I hadn't replied!

I knew about the Baxter baptisms - this is definitely my family. The Baxter/Morrow marriage and baptism of Robert Baxter is one I've looked at before and feel it is probably my family but, as yet, cannot prove it. I'm hoping any grave inscriptions may help.

Thanks for taking the time to look.
