Hi,
I am interested in finding a David Pritchard/Prichard born c1791 (farmer/labourer) with his daughter Mary born c1826 and hopefully other family too.
The family are living in the same house in Llanbaddock in the 1861 - 1901 censuses so hopefully they are in Llanbaddock in 1841 or 1851. The house doesn't always have a name but in the later census returns it is known as 'House by Yew Tree'.
Any information, gratefully appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Pritch,
Thanks for the information. Even though David is 10 years younger than I expected, I think this is the right family. Is it normal for the ages to be far out in the earlier censuses?
To be real pain, there isn't a Mary Pritchard/Prichard lurking around in the village is there? She would be about 15 and on later census returns is employed as a housekeeper, so could be in service? Do not know the area, so not sure if there were houses nearby that had domestic help.
Thanks again

Hi
Ages in the 1841 census were rounded up to the nearest five years, so generally the ages recorded shouldn't be taken as exact. Discrepancies were quite common.
No other Mary Pritchard/Prichard is listed in the Llanbaddock census.
Another Prichard family were listed:
Thomas Prichard 30 Tailor
Rebecca Prichard 30
John Prichard 13
Thomas Prichard 10
Maria Prichard 5
Elizabeth Prichard 2
All were born in the county and the address was as Bridge Row.
There was also a John Prichard 30 Ag. Lab born in county.
He was listed as living with a farmer by the name of David Williams who also had two female servants. One was a fifteen year old by the name of Maria Arnold, probably nothing to do with the Mary you are looking for, but I thought worth mentioning.
