Any help with my favourite brick wall would be appreciated
I have a GG Grandmother Annie Bell living in Hexham
1891 age 31 birthplace London occ. Washerwoman Married (no husband visible)
children Jane Ann 1879, Esther 1880, John 1886
1901 age 45 birthplace Kingstown Scotland occ. Washerwoman Single
children Jane Ann 1879, Esther 1880,
1911 age 46 birthplace Kingstown occ. Hawker of white stone Widowed
Despite the variations in age and marital status I am certain these records are for the same person, I would like to find Annie and / or Jane Ann in 1881 and I would like some idea of where the Kingstown she gives as her birthplace might be and why she may have given London as her bithplace on the 1891 record ??
Thanks for taking a look,
JP

Kingstown, scotland is either east lothian or murray. there are several others in England incl Kingston on Thames in london, maybe the enumerator misunderstood her - perhaps the london one is the only one hed heard of!

what was her maiden name? do you know who she married?

Hi,
On Jane Ann's baptism record 1879 Hexham only her mother's name is stated.

Many thanks Sharon for the baptismal reference
and Diddy for the Geo references, unfortunately the only info I have, is gleaned from the census returns, I have no info on any possible marriages .
I will be passing through Hexham at the end of Feb maybe I could do some groundwork and doorknocking !
Many thanks

So Esther married Thomas Ainsley as a widow ,Esther Parker ,?
another son James Robert Parker, possibly the son of Esther and Robert Parker married Hexham 1903
Robert Bell death registered Hexham 1907 aged 33,
is this the information you have

Hello, Yes Esther married again,
my mum remembers uncle Jim, who was Gawens brother. that would probably be the James Robert Parker you have
I am not sure that Robert Bell you mention is anything I have
Gawens marriage certificate indicates Robert Parker was his father (deceased), his witness is James Robert Parker who is probably his brother (Uncle Jim to my mum)
I have Esther's and Roberts Marriage certificate, Robert Parker is listed as a Labourer and his father Robson Parker a Tallow Chandler, one of the witnesses is J D Ritson her brother in law married to her sister.
Gawen Bell's birth certificate only lists a mother Esther Bell, and no father, but was later known as Gawen Parker Bell, my mum only knew him as Gawen Parker and found the name Bell on paper work when he was older.
I thought I had Esther's birth certificate, but just search through my certificates and cannot find it. I think I might just be thinking of the marriage certificate which does not list brides father under where the grooms father is listed.
hope this might help with research. But no further on with Esther's mother. I also was trying to track down where Kingstown is and is how i came upon this chat forum, it does list her in one census as from London, and then Kingstown Scotland on others, I think Scotland is the more likely place for her birth.
Any help would be much appreciated

Gawen was born before his mother married hence the Parker Bell surname
Esther Bell and Robert Parker married Hexham March 1903
James Robert Parker ,birth Hexham ,December 1903
Robert Parker died Hexham aged 33,March 1907
Esther Parker marries ,Thomas Ainsley ,Hexham March 1909
they are on the 1911 census together with her two sons ,the Parker boys,
and his children
you need to back this up with some official documentation,
