Background information to this post can be found on the Grassington School 1914 Part 1 post.
The names on this section of the school photograph are Mary Longstaffe, Arthur Chapman, Fred Percival, Mrs Chapman, Dora Ibbotson, Harold Percival, Florence Tyson, Kathleen Beckwith, Elsie Bridge, Thos. Percival, Hilda Gill, H. Ibbotson, Ed S Percival, Hilda Harker & Mary Bowness.

I think that Arthur Chapman was my grandmother's brother. My grandmother was Dora Chapman, born in Grassington in 1910.

Dora Chapman, born in the Temperance Hotel, Grassington did have an older brother, William Arthur Chapman born in !907 & that would have made him 11 in the school picture. Their father John Robert Chapman, born 1877 in Buckden, ran the Carriage business in Grassington. I have more information & picture of the family but need to look it up. When I lived in Raines Meadows, Grassington I use to go and talk to a Mrs Chapman who lived on Raines Lane about the Chapman family business. I believe her son ran the cafe in Gargrave.

Mary Ann Chapman was the daughter of James Allan Chapman born Slingsby in the North Riding in 1865 & Jane Chapman born Carlisle in 1864. He was the schoolmaster & she was an assistant teacher at Grassington School & appear in many of the pictures I have of the period
Mary Ann was their daughter. She was born in Grassington in 1902.
In 1901 & 1911 they lived in the schoolhouse in Grassington.
They also had a son Allan S Chapman born in Grassington in 1895.

Thanks for your reply. The lady in Raines Lane would have been Arthur's wife, Beatrice. Their son, Colin is my Dad's cousin and he did indeed run The Dalesman cafe at Gargrave.
I have also come across some things about Jack Chapman, courtesy of Pam Blagden - photos and letters on cpgw.org. - I think this would have been Kit's son. Died during WW1.
I will keep an eye out for further posts,

I posted these pictures a while ago & have not had much response from the ancestors of the children in the school photograph so it is good to receive your post & it would be really interesting to share knowledge about the family & their relationship with the Chapman family.
Not Dales born & bred, like your family, I do however have a passion for the Dales & lived in Grassington for over 25 years. I collect postcards, photographs & ephemera of the Dales Villages & research/share whatever I find to keep alive the history of the area. The Bownas & Chapman clans are well established Dales families.
If you can let me know what sort of information you are looking for then I can see if I can help.
I do not know if you have the picture of your mother but if not I would be pleased to send you a scan of it.

Thanks for reply, I would love a scan as it is the earliest photo of my mother that we have seen, did not know she had plats.
I have been doing family history fo a good number of years & have a good amount of info.
I fell on your original post by accident whilst doing a search on the Temperance Hotel, Grassington.
