Hi Everyone
I have a copy of my G.Grandfather Arthur Ainge's Birth Certificate (b. 26.03.1881) Showing his Father as Thomas Ainge and mother Elizabeth Ainge formerly Clarke. However looking through Familysearch cannot find Thomas or Elizabeth anywhere! The certificate shows their address as 34 Thames St Leicester and I know that the family were well known Cobblers here in Leicester.
Can anyone please think of any avenues I can search??

there is a thomas and elizabeth Ainge' living in wigston leicestershire 1881 he was a master house painter

1881 Census return shows
24 Thames Street as being occupied by
Thomas Hanes 24 yrs Shoe Finisher
Eliza Hanes 25 yrs Worked in Fancy Hosiery Factory
William Hanes 4 yrs
Thomas Hanes 3 yrs
John Hanes 1 week
All Born in Leicester
As people did not fill in their own census returns it is possible that Ainge was transcribed as Hanes.
Hope this doesn't confuse you too much :D

Woohoo is it Xmas? Birthday? Nope just the great peeps on Roots helping out again!
Mike I take it you're still here in Leicester? If so do you use the LRO much? I used to go there regularly but always seemed to get confused and found myself going backwards and forwards not coming away with much info! I was wondering if you go anywhere else or you are just far cleverer than me on the net??? :-[ Roots really is the best site I have found online.
