I am trying to do some research on my family from Burnley Nelson Lancashire but have reached a standstill. There were a few James Heyworths that worked as Worsted Weavers in Nelson area. He was born Croft Top, Pendle Forest Lane in 1837 and his father was John Heyworth. The children were John Thomas, Nancy, Elizabeth Ellen, Robinson, Annie (my grandmother) and Lily. The family were living in Backhouse Road Nelson on 1891 census and they were all still in Nelson in 1901.
Is anyone related to these people - I would appreciate any information however small. Annie came out to NZ and married in 1916 but I have no luck finding out even what ship or year she came out.
Thanks

Thank you all for the information. I have only got the information known in my first post. I know James father was John Heyworth but no wife known (would love to know who she was). From the posts received I have found out there was five year old boy Walter Barrett Heyworth. On another site it states it was Annie's son but on another it is stated as Elizabeth Ellen's son. They claimed money for this child and it stated he was illegitimate.
The family members are the same: Ann (Dixon) and James
children:
Nancy
John Thomas - I have a photo of John Thomas
Annie Married in NZ in 1916
Lily went to Sydney and married Cousins. Went to NZ to visit her sister Annie
Robinson he may have died young
Elizabeth Ellen
On Annie's NZ marriage cert in 1916 it states 'spinster'. I think she had a secret life as she lied about her age as well on my father's birth cert.
Gibel - you said on 1911 census they had 9 children!! I only know of the six above.
Thank you all. Will have to check out some more of this. A few surprises I was not expecting.

If you look at my previous posts you will see I found John's wife's first name and then found their marriage.
I would look for an Annie Johnson on shippin lists.

Gibel Thank you for information. I found Annie on the Remeura with my grandfather. Only problem is I didnt know it was her as she is listed as Annie Johnson (a housewife). Wonder what was going on there. Need to look into that. On her marriage cert in NZ she is a spinster Annie Heyworth. Have to see what happened to her husband. ThanKs I did get information about John's wife.

If you can trace your Heyworth line to those living in Barley or Newchurch in Pendle, I may be able to assist. I have traced my Heyworth line back to 1695. Of possible relevance to your query I am related to James Heyworth ( 1800 to 1876) He was married to Nanny Horn and they had seven children including my ancestor William Heyworth. William had a brother James (1823 to 1874) and another brother Robinson Heyworth b 1851. I have not found a John. All those I have found were either farmers or weavers and many are buried at St Marys Newchurch in Pendle. They lived in Barley
If you link up to any of the above please let me know and I can take the line further back in time for you.
Kind regards
James

Hi James
I am related to James Heyworth (father John, mother unsure at this stage) born 1837 Croft Top Pendle Forest Lane Lancashire. He married Ann Dixon in 1862. They had John Thomas, Nancy, Elizabeth Ellen, Robinson, Annie (my grandmother) and Lily Heyworth. They were cotton weavers and lived in Burnley Nelson area. In 1881 census they were at Croft Houses 2 Great and Little Marsden, 1891 it was 57 Backhouse Rd Nelson and in 1911 they were at Eliz Ellen's house which was 8 The Gravels. There were only 5 living children in 1911 but originally there were 9. Haven't got their names yet but working on that.
On sites where I have looked there are a lot of James Heyworths - not sure ours are related. Does any of this relate to you?
On one of the messages on this enquiry of mine Radcliff mentions some of the names you gave me.
