Title: McIndoe/Greenhill Barony Glasgow

I am trying to find the parents of Robert McIndoe and Helen Greenhill, although it is a long shot. All i know of them is Robert and Helen married 8 Oct 1820 at Barony Glasgow. They had a daug, Jane who married John Dobbie Aug 1854 at Barony, Glasgow. If i could be pointed in the right direction would be a help.

Have you checked early censuses for the family to see what info you can get from there? I think this might be them in 1841 - everyone showing as born in the county:

Robert Mcindoe 35, HLW (likely hand loom weaver)
Hellen Mcindoe 38
Elizabeth Mcindoe 18
William Mcindoe 16
John Mcindoe 7
Robert Mcindoe 5
Jean Mcindoe 3

I think Helen at least made it past the start of official registration in 1855 as she shows on the 1861 census (as transcribed):

Elen Mcindoo 60 b. New Shyistrick (?spl), Stirlingshire
Robert Mcindoo 24
John Salkerk 24, lodger

Address: 20 School Wynd, Anderston, Glasgow Barony

There is a likely death entry showing for her on the official pay to view site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, indexed as Helen McIndoe/Greenhill. Her parents names should be included (if known to the informant).

Thank you Monica for your help, indeed it does look like my family here. there seems to be a great difference in Roberts age...I was hoping his age would give me a chance to find his birth but there seems to be quite a difference in this age on the 1841 cen to the 1851 cen.
Well i have the family now, thank you, trying to find the parents of Robert and Helen is my next step.
