My Great Grandfather: Thomas McInery born 1837 at a cavalry barracks in Birmingham and died 30 Jan 1922 and buried in Cheriton Cemetery, Folkestone, Kent
Enlisted in the 80th Regiment of Foot aged 14 years 3 months as a
drummer boy at Rangoon, Burma and later transferred to the 78th Highlanders ( Ross-shire Buffs). Military service included Ireland, Gibraltar, Montreal and Nova Scotia
Thomas married Jemima Gibson on 2 Sep 1862 in Folkestone, Kent and subsequently had 8 children all born in various parts of the world.
Thomas's father was Cornelius McInery no information on this man.
Does anyone have any information on either Thomas or his father Cornelius?

Also at the Barracks in Fordington, on a page which is all children are:
Thomas McIngrey (thats how it is transcribed) age 2
and
Mary McInerney (also as transcribed) age 4
Image is not clear, but whatever it is it, they are the same name.
There is also at FOrdington Barracks a 25 yr old MAry McIngory!
So - if you are looking for a SOLDIER called Cornelius, with a wife Mary and children including a toddler called Thomas .... I reckon this lot in Fordington are a pretty good match!
What made you rule them out?

Hi,
"Wife" Mary McIngory is also listed on another page age 25 not born in county
