What is the source of your information, jard?
Have you got her birth cert, or found her on any censuses?
I cant see anyone fitting the bill on 1891 census.

Hi

The 1901 census has a 14 year old Lucy Taylor born Norfolk Norton which could be Norton Subcourse which is in the Loddon registration district.

Found this baptism in Norton

Lucy Mary Ann Taylor  b Oct 1886 is indeed the one.
She married Edward Batchelor Martin in 1908.
I now know her parents, Edward Taylor and Elizabeth Curtis Constance...thank you.

My information originaly came from the lady herself, quite a long while ago now, before she died. She was reluctant to say much at all at the time, and the family knowledge of her side  is quite limited.

She claimed she was one of about 22 children !!  but  her family know very little about them and nothing at all of her life, something I'm trying to change. Every piece of info I can get will help to do this. She has one remaining living child who is anxious to know something of her mothers life.

Possibly Lucy Mary A was one of 22 children - but I think many of them may have died in infancy???

1881 census ( it has been posted previously)
Norton S Norfolk
Eedward Taylor Head M 40 Carpenter Norton Norfolk

Edward son 3 Thurlton
Walter son 2   ditto
Seclenar daughter 1 (should be Selina!) Thurlton

It seems as Edward and Elizabeth did not marry until Dec qtr 1879- so the 2 eldest children were registered in the surname Constance

Thank you so much Suz.
I have a much better picture now of their lives which must have been really something with all those children.
As the 1901 census only shows Elizabeth at Norton St with daughter Millicent and grand daughter Sybil, there must have been some traumatic times in that household between 1891  and 1901.
Look forward to the next chapter ( if you find one . :)

and her marriage reg

Sybil Florence Taylor
Frederick W Keys

....and I know the ref has been given for Lucy in 1901 -but here are fuller details
1901
9 Queen St Gt Yarmouth Norfolk
George Johnson Head M 50 Police Officer Martham Norfolk
Eliza wife 46 Stokesby Norfolk
Charles son U 19 vetinary surgeon's clerk Gorleston Suffolk
Lucy Taylor servant 14 Norton Norfolk
RG13 1809 7 5

By 1901 Lucy's father had died and only 1 daughter was home with Elizabeth - not unusual -as maybe the others were married -or in service -as Lucy was.

If you look at 1881 census at familysearch you will notice Taylor families living next door (both sides) to Edward and Elizabeth-maybe they had family close

I am tring to find what happened to the other children?

I wonder if Edward and Walter William F used the surname Constance or Taylor ???
I know they are entered on census as "Taylor"

Wonder if Edward was their father ??
Will try to find out more later

Thanks again Suz. You've got me real hooked now  :) It's turning into a drama of sorts.......
One of the few things Lucy actually told us ws that she ws moved to London aged 12 ??  That was obviously not the case ( however, she was in her 90's when she said it !)
She couldn't have moved on her own steam, and working for a police officer could have given her the move if he was transfered
I will look at that 1881 census as you suggest  and maybe something will ring a bell

It is quite possible Lucy moved to London at the age of 12 -it was not unusual for girls of that young age to be "in service" - she was back home age 14 - but she coushe could have changed employers and stayed in the london area.
