Title: Wardle
Post by: sharoncs on Friday 27 January 12 13:29 GMT (UK)
I'm trying to trace my stepdad's family.  His father was Charles Brian Wardle born in Leeds in 1909 at 2 Beulah Place, Woodhouse.  However, he knows no more than this. I don't have any subscriptions to any sites and am unable to get to my local library (for their Ancestry subscription) until next weekend.  Is there any chance that a nice kind person on here could provide me with the names of his parents?  I'll then see what else I can find before my library visit next weekend.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

Sharon

Did you check freebmd for a birth in 1909?  There isn't one but there is one in the March qtr 1910 which may mean he was born around December 1909 but birth not registered until January 1910

You will need to look for him on the 1911 census to get his parents names - 1911 lookups are not allowed on Rootschat.  The free index shows him as b 1910 and living in Leeds

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

The 1911 census is strictly pay per view so you will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same surname in the same household

Death registered in 1995 shows his birthdate as 14.12.1909
