Title: Haltwhistle Presbyterian Records
Post by: mandymoo27 on Thursday 26 January 12 19:07 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone

Could someone help me please.

Mary Blake born 1825 Falstone married William Hunter b 1822 Haltwhisle sometime between 1842 & 1851.  They had 3 children all of which were christened in PRESBYTERIAN-NC,HALTWHISTLE,NORTHUMBERLAND,ENGLAND.

I have searched the images on familysearch.org for Haltwhistle and not one of the baptisms is recorded?  (eg.  John Blake Hunter b 17 Oct 1853 bap 15 May 1854).   ???

1.  I cant find any record of any marriage between Mary Blake and William Hunter
2.  Why would there be no records of the baptisms

Is this because it was a PRESBYTERIAN baptism/marriage.

Apologies for my ignorance but I really don't understand.

Thanks
Amanda

The images are the Durham Diocesan Bishops transcripts, i.e. transcripts taken from the Anglican Church records.

If the baptisms were in a church of a different denomination (such as Presbyterian) they would not be found on the Bishops Transcripts.

Thanks

Do you know where I would find these?  Is it normal practice that they are not as easy to access online as all of the other records.

The full details of the baptisms were given here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,573702.msg4267423.html#msg4267423
the whole of that thread related to Mary Blake and William Hunter.
We looked high and low and couldn't find the marriage.
