Greetings from an expatriate Geordie, now living in Massachusetts, USA..

I was born in January of 1945, and lived at Mariner's Cottages, in Acomb.
I ring my Mam every Sunday, so I will ask her tomorrow if she has any recollection of the accident, and report back here later in the day..

There's a lot of information on Acomb colliery here -

http://www.dmm.org.uk/colliery/a005.htm

but no mention of an accident at that time.

Anyway, it might be interesting for you

Thanks for both replies. Its a small world I know the Skelton Family as I used to live near them in Hexham.
