Hi, I wondered if Scrabble could possibly do a lookup for me, please?
I am looking for the marriage of James Sawkins to a Mary. They had 8 children christened in Doddinghurst from Jun 1773 to 1808, so I'm wondering if they married there too. I'd love to know Mary's maiden name.
Also is there a christening record for James Sawkins in Doddinghurst or surrounding area?
Thank you

Very many thanks Sue.
Is there any sign of either of their christenings?

No I couldn't find any sign of any Sawkins or Suttons from c1740ish to 1760ish, the years I searched.

Sorry, not paying attention today ::)
Agree with marriage.
These are the Sawkins baps I have in Doddinghurst. There seems to be an earlier family and James's family but nothing in between.

If you can give me an idea of James's birth year I can check Navestock and Kelvedon Hatch for you. I do have some records but not a transcription so need a rough idea of year at least - what does he say in the census?

Silly me, he'd be dead by 1841!
I've reckoned James was born about 1750 and have checked the following which are all near Doddinghurst but no luck so far, in fact no Sawkins except Dodd as above and Navestock as mentioned below. BLACKMORE would probably be worth checking but I don't have records for this period.
Doddinghurst
Navestock 1744-56 (there are earlier Saukins baps 1666-1700)
Kelvedon Hatch 1737-1754
South Weald 1747-54
Stondon Massey 1737-1754
Mountnessing 1740-1758
I have just realised James is on my tree, his son James' daughter Clementine married into my Cole family although not my direct line.

Many thanks to both Sue and Scrabble.
Scrabble, any sign of a christening for Mary Sutton? I'm guessing about 1750.

Certainly nothing in Doddinghurst or Navestock in that time period.
