Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to start looking for old newspaper stories for Campbeltown, Argyll & Bute around 1890s? My grt-grt-grt gran died of burns and I wanted to see if there was a recording of an accident perhaps.
Many thanks
Rhoda

Hi Rhoda,
The local newspaper, the Campbeltown Courier, was first published in 1873 and is still being printed. They may have records going back to the dates you are looking for. The local library in Campbeltown may also be a source for any relevant information.
Happy hunting,
Istrice

This is really helpful thanks. I'll contact the Campbeltown Courier and make a wee trip if they have anything.
Thanks for replying

You might find it more useful to contact their office in Oban where you are more likely to have success with archives.
Just a suggestion.

Stripey..., you seem to be speaking from experience. lol !
Looking forward to read Hera's reasearch !
PS Before, when I mentioned that they "get their pages on-line"..., I did of course mean pre-war pages.
