The 1841 census shows they were having children in Lancashire from at least 1821. The 1841 shows him as Lackey Larkin and eldest daughter was aged 20
Nothing else for him though. Still alive in 1851

yes many thanks for that.
hoping someone can tell me of the history before then, with a name like that he must be out there somewhere.

Unfortunately, civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 and many church records from such an early period do not exist. To search for any surviving Irish records you'd need to have a fairly exact location (parish if not actual townland).
Have a look at Introduction to Irish Records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,442233.0.html) and My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start? (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,498742.0.html).

well i've no idea where they are from in Ireland but on one record his wife Catherine is down as Munster, Ireland not that that helps much haha
but thanks for the advice and link.

May be something and nothing but his death reg shows him as Loughlin aged 80 - as per full GRO index
Deaths March qtr 1868 Loughlin Larkin aged 80 Prescot 8b 460
This would give a birthyear of approx 1788

well thats definately him, thanks a lot
