Can anyone advise me on how to obtain information regarding my 2 x Great Grandfather who was a Police Constable in the mid 1800s. His name was (Joseph) Henry Parslow. I would like to know if there are any websites I can search about Police Officers Service record.
Regards Caroline :)

Hi Caroline,
There's a great thread on Rootschat run by a very generous chatter called, I think, Barnaby P. He has done a LOT of scanning of police records and helps people out with lookups.
I can't find his thread right now but his looks like his scans.

I'll keep looking for his thread. I expect someone else will be along to correct me.
My Gt granddad joined the Met in 1867.

His first post contains a number of links. Have a browse through them and, if you cannot find your man, see if Barnaby can help.

Hi Paul thank you so much for the information.
I will try now & see if he can help me.
I have recently found Henry Parslow on the " Old Bailey on line"website giving evidence.
I felt so proud I needed to know more.
Once again thank you very much Caroline. :)

If he was in the Met his service record will be at The National Archives in Kew. They'll give a physical description, details of where he worked, any promotions etc. If he stayed until retirement age, you can also access his pension details. My gt uncle's pension details told me how much his final salary was (extra allowances for coal) his pension, where it was to be paid (turned out to be his father-in-law's house).
