Have you details of John's father - e.g. from a marriage cert ?

John's birth is well before the start of civil records, so you will need a few more details on him, particularly a more detailed place of birth, before attempting a search for parish records.

he was married on 2/3/1872 to a elizabeth probee and married at the parish church heston middx england

Why do you think his father may have come from Clonmel? What was his name?
