Can anyone help with information on John Clayton who was married to Rosa Lavinia Moore. They married in november 1884.
Some records show him born otley and others show born armley abt 1847 to 1849. possible parents are William clayton and Ann (?) i have also found reference to john Clayton born 1849 in Calverley which is close to Otley. So many differences it gets confusing.
Any help to clear up the confusuion and tie up loose ends would be helpful

Would also like help to find Ann's maiden name there are a few Ann's married to a William Clayton in the records found so far on ancestry.co.uk and familysearch.org as well as other sites

They married in Sheepscar St Clement. which was Rosa's parish. the address they lived at was 22 Enfield place living with Rosa's widowed grandmothe Elizabeth Moore 9Elizabeth's maiden name was Barraclaugh her late husband was Alfred Moore

Thanks ladyhawk Not been having any luck on this so far.
have found him definitely as the right one in the 1891, 190 and 1911 census's and a likely reference to him in 1881 census as a boarder. he is a cloth presser in in 1881 and 1891 census and a fish frier on own accord in 1901 and 1911. Have not been able to locate him in 1871 census but have a possible record in 1861 and 1851 with parents names William and Ann.
these records mostly show birth as Otley.
Would Otley by chance be the registration district for calverley back at that time?

Unfortunately does’nt provide mother’s maiden name ???

The registration of Otley is/was Wharfedale.
Calverley was the same until 1974.
(Otley is not as local as you think, 12 miles as the crow flies)

Have found John Clayton born 1847 Otley on FindmyPast.CO.UK but can't view record as it is too expensive. Does anyone have a subscription to Findmypast that would be willing to look up this record?
