I have the census details for William & (wife) Sarah in 1851 he is a shoemaker living at Church Street, Woolwich. What I would like help with is to find the marriage details for him and Sarah? also his burial details ?
William Bowyer Rudland was born in Woolwich 22 May 1815.
Children for William & Sarah : Sarah, Eliza, Mary-Ann, William, George & Emma (born between 1840 & 1850)
Many thanks

A public tree on Ancestry has him married to Sarah Newman.
If so, there is this marriage from Freebmd
William Rudland
Dec quarter 1838
Dartford 5 163
On the same page Sarah Newman
I've found them in 1871 in Islington, do you have him after that as that will narrow down when he died?

This could be his death:
Deaths Dec 1884
Rudland William 68 Greenwich 1d 617

You may have this already
1841 census
Warwick Street Woolwich
Piece:

Book/Folio:

There's a William Rudland with wife Sarah 25, daughter Sarah 2.
Occupation 'could' be shoemaker, difficult to read.

Hello everyone. Thank you Groom, that is brilliant, no I couldn't find William in the 1871? last sighting I have of him & Sarah is in the 1861, now I know that he is still alive, ( pretty sure going by the age and the location that is William's death you found) I shall have another look. Thank you for the details for his marriage to Sarah Newman. Thank you mazeppa for the 1841, I was missing that too! well done.
Thanks again for your prompt and extremely helpful replies. :)

Thanks groom - that's the family ;)

I cant see them in 1881 unless it's been transcribed incorrectly. If that's his death in 1884 they should be somewhere.
Looks as if the son William is in Bethnal Green he is a carman: RG 11 Piece: 418 Folio:48 Page: 52

I know!!! I can't find them either .......... :-\ It is the right age for his death in 1884 .. and the right area... must be mistranscribed

Have a look at this in 1891
RG12; Piece: 630; Folio 100; Page 17
It could be Sarah living in Bromley Kent with her daughter Ellen, who is married to Joseph Howe.

Have had a look at 1871 census, if this is the right family it has been mistranscribed and actually says REIDLAND.

Thank you mazeppa. The name has various spellings I have found over the years ;) .. I have the 1871 now as Jan kindly found it for me, if you can find them in the 1881 that would be a help. We know that William died in 1884 so he is out there somewhere.....
Thanks everyone for your help

Angie, I've tried every combination on 1881 census, reversing the name, wildcard, just William Bowyer and still nothing!
You haven't mentioned having his d cert, if that says more than just the town he died in there may be enough to try an address search for 1881. They do seem to have flitted about somewhat, very inconsiderate. He died in Greenwich so had he returned to his own area, or just visiting?
What about Sarah's d cert ?

Hi mazeppa no, I don't have any of the certificates for William or Sarah. I'm attempting to bring together the Rudland family by gathering details and information if I can. The family were all baptised St Mary Magdalen, Woolwich to parents William Rudland & Ann ? William Boyer, Eliza Sophia (my direct-line) Jane, Susannah, Rebecca, Louisa & Emma. I thought I would start with William ;) and then hopefully move on with his sisters and find out what happened to them all. I have the details for Eliza Sophia, but I would like to know about her siblings and their families, I think it is rather nice to have their families listed and not just names and dates on my tree. :)
So.. next stop will be Jane Rudland b. 9 August 1824 ...
