Thanks to some look ups I have found David Conway(b.1780 Llanasa) husband of Elizabeth Griffith(b.1780 Whitford) and some children (John, Henry, Margaret etc).....they are from Llanasa/Meliden.
Parents of David might be Robert Conway and Mary Edwards of Llanasa (presumably born 1750/60's and married 1779 or before).....is there any trace of them in the parish records? Thanks, Steve.

Llanasa PRs;
Baptism: David Conway, son of Robert & Mary, of Gronant, 1st September 1780, born 29th August.
Quite a lot of Conway entries in the transcribed PRs, which cover approx. 1761 to 1812. Later than this will be in the Archives.
Let me know if you need any more - it might take me a while to copy them all.

Read your post again more carefully!!
Marriage by Banns: 3rd May 1773, Robert Conway (Ba) + Mary Edwards (Sp), both "of this parish". Witnesses: John Williams + John Parry (he witnesses a lot of marriages, so presumeably he was the clerk or something)

Thanks Taidgazacz! That is so helpful! Do records stop at 1761 or are there previous ones waiting to be transcribed? and is there any way of knowing from burials post 1761...who Robert Conway's father or grandfather was?
I'd also be interested to know of any other children of Robert and Mary...but that would be the cherry on the cake! Thanks again, Steve

Hi Steve,
The ones I have only go back to 1761, as this was about the time my ancestors arrived in the area.
The PRs were transcribed by the Clwyd Family History Society. If you look at their website, http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/registers/index.html you'll see the transcriptions go back a lot further. There's a full set at the Archives at Hawarden.
Sometime over this weekend, I'll list the Conway entries that I can find here.

Brilliant! I feel like I won the lottery! Will get in touch with Clwyd family history a.s.a.p.! Many many thanks! Steve

I've assembled the first lot of data: baptisms 1791 - 1794, as a table in MS Word, but when I copied into here, the columns were all shuffled, so I'm sending it to you as a PM.
If you can't open Word, I'll find another way.
-
Oops, should have realised it would be the same in a PM, here it is:
Although the columns are shuffled, each line is complete, so you should be able to decifer it.

Wow that's a lot of Conways!...will help me a lot with mapping out the descendants. I've sent off to join the Clwyd family history society. Thanks again
Another thing....does 'parish records' mean Anglican?......therefore not 'chapel'?
Also...maybe a silly question, but.......don't know if your ancestors are poor like mine....would they have lived in stone cottages (therefore possibly still standing) or would they have been those cottages made of mud and wattle?
-
Yes, the PRs are Anglican. I'm not sure when "The Church in Wales", as it's now referred to, was established. This makes no difference as the records were continuous. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm no expert.)
What might complicate things a bit is that the Nonconformist movement was beginning to get eatablished in the area during the 18th century, and their records are more difficult to find, if they exist at all.
I don't know much about social history, so can't say what sort of dwellings our ancestors lived in. I assume that mine moved into the Llanasa area to find work, as many of them were lead miners, and later, coal miners. So I guess they would have lived in stone cottages.
I'll give you more Conway records later, but for anything before 1761, you'll need to, either buy the transcriptions or visit Hawarden or the Clwyd FHS centre. Anything later than 1812 you'll find on microfilm at Hawarden.

Two small points regarding the marriages:
1) Where I've only given one witness, the other was the clerk, so I guess of no interest.
2) Of all the "parties", the only one who didn't have an "X" by his name, which suggests that he was literate, was Samuel Conway.
Finally two burials:
10th July 1803, Catherine Conway, Gwespyr.
12 th March 1811, Henry Conway, of David, Gronant. (It doesn't say "son of", but I guess that's what it means.)
Catherine Conway appears interesting. She (if she's the same person) seems to have married three times. I wonder if it was the practise in those days for a woman to use her maiden name on each occasion, including her burial.
Maybe someone can enlighten me.
-
That's great....am hoping that Catherine is a relative...can't wait for the parish records to arrive in the post! Thanks, Steve
