Hi looking for info on Susanah Alborough born 1830 Depwade district Norfolk.1841 census gives her age as 11 living in Depwade Norfolk. No more information after that.
Parents info is as follows.WILLIAM ALBOROUGH, bapt 10/5/1806 Forncett St. Mary's, Norfolk, d 7/8/1878 New Forncett, Boston Natal South Africa, m1 21/7/1829 Tharston LOUISA ("LUCY") WRIGHT, b 1805, d 21/12/1853 Forncett St. Mary's.Thank You.

If both parents died in SA and you can't find any census entry after 1841 - it looks as though they emigrated between 1841-1851 - particularly as wife Louisa/Lucy died in 1853 in SA
Your post may be better on the SA board so I will ask the moderator to move it for you

cannot see a definite sighting after 1851 for susannah nor can i see william after 1851 so maybe they travelled together to south africa after 1851 but before 1861
-
WILLIAM ALBOROUGH d 7/8/1878 New Forncett, Boston Natal South Africa,
So is William's place of death correct as there is a New Forncett in SA as well as Norfolk
-
Sorry should have added more info.William Alborough senior was a widower with 2 children, William jnr and Jane, when he followed William Colenso the bishop of St Mary's to South Africa in 1855.
William Alborough left behind 2 children, Mary (b1833) who married a William Shorten and Susanah b 1830.I hope this makes it a bit clearer in that I am missing just Susanah's side of the family. To Wozzle thanks this would appear to be her,now to find out if she married or not!!!!
Anyone wanting info on the Alborough family in South Africa can contact me as I have a family tree of this side of the family.Regards Derek.

there is a marriage in 1852 in depwade of a susannah alborough and on the same page is a william rudd
there is on the 1861 census a susannah rudd whose husband is william rudd
she states born 1830 but born in yarmouth do not know how far forncett is from yarmouth?
if you think this may be her i will post the 1861 census

Hi thanks for the info.According to Google maps Yarmouth is 280 miles away from Forncett so not sure if this is the correct Susannah!!!I checked on free BMD website and came up with the following when I entered William Rudd and just Alborough seperately.
Marriage Dec 1852 Depwade 4b 641 William Rudd and a Susan Alborough!!!
I then found a death notice for a Susannah Rudd at Depwade 4b 1_9 in March 1887.I don't see anything on the LSDS records for a marriage between the two of them.Anyone able to check the 1871 and 1881 census records!!!Thanks.

susannah rudd claims on 1861,1871, born in yarmouth 1830-1831 on the 1881 census she also states born in yarmouth but 1835
if it is that far away from where your susannah gives as her birthplace
then i would not imagine this is her
having said that i cannot find a susan/susannah alborough/albrough on the 1841,1851 that would fit with the susannah rudd
-
I would think that she was born in Great Yarmouth Norfolk (only 30 miles away) rather than Yarmouth, Isle of White
yokel
-
Thanks for that info, as I don't live in the UK I was unsure of the distances or town names. The only way to check her birth place would be to look at the parish transcripts for Forncett St Mary's where her mother and brother are buried plus some of the other Alboroughs.

"Yarmouth is 280 miles away from Forncett."
I assume the Yarmouth in question would be Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, about 30 miles from Forncett St. Mary.
FWIW Susannah's sister is my gg grandmother. Also am interested to know if she married and if any issue.
A Susannah Alborough, spinster, died 13 Dec 1916 in Southsea, Portsmouth. Probate to Herbert Lovell, commercial clerk.
But as well as the possible Rudd marriage, a Susannah Alborough married Jan 1859 at Henstead, Norfolk. Can't see spouse's name.
-
Possibly married George Lawn/Lawne 17th November 1852, father recorded as William Alborough--labourer - Susan Lawn buried 5th January 1854.
