If you are sure of her year of birth and year of death then you should be able to find both documents on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

You should also be able to find her and perhaps her parents on the cenuses 1881 - 1911 on the same website.

Forgot to say that her birth certificate will show her parents names and the date of their marriage.

By the way which parish in Moray are we talking about?

It is also worthwhile doing a person search on the free Libindx site which contains a wealth of information about people from Moray.

Did Jane Murray marry James Carmichael 1899 Elgin ?
If so several online trees have her parents as John Murray and Jane Murdoch
As Graham suggested the Libindx site has Jane Carmichael(nee Murray) death 1st November 1931

Scotlandspeople website has a marriage for James Carmichael and Jane Murray 1899 Elgin Moray

Added - the only likely marriage for her parents is John Murray and JESSIE Murdoch 9th Dec. 1865 elgin moray

The IGI website has Jane Murray born 11th April 1872 Elgin Moray
parents John Murray and Jessie Murdoch

However there is no sign of a Jane Murray with this family on the 1881 census

Hi Neil,

I’ve just discovered that I’m related to the Murray family.

FWIW, John and Jessie, together with their 2 infant children, Isabella and Maggie (and the family of 2 of John’s uncles) are buried in Elgin Cathedral cemetery.
