Title: Irish Place Name Decipher
Post by: nzams on Thursday 12 January 12 21:51 GMT (UK)
Hello all,

Could some please help me with the following place name?

The info I am after is for the father of a child baptised in Ballytrim, Ireland.  Child number 403 called Matilda.

First name is William
Second name is Howe

It is the word below that I am having problems with and it is the 'Dwelling Place of Father'.  I have scanned Google Maps but have been unsuccessful.

Also having trouble with the informants Eliza's surname details as I believe she is not the mother of the child.

Many thanks
Aaron

I could be thousands of miles off here, but at first glance it looks like "America"  :-\

The informant looks to me to be "Eliza Alexander (her mark) present at birth, Ballytrim"

I agree with both of Alexander's suggestions, and his wife is Harriet Howe formerly Gardiner.
