-
I've been googling - he was a POW. I wonder what dates he was incarcerated. It may narrow down the dates he could have been around to be married?
-
inoticed that too, maybe the first wife ethel left him or thought he was dead
-
You could request his service record

Well one set of Lional NORLEY's service records are digitised and freely available online via the National Archives of Australia's website. There is also a set of POW records not yet digitised.
See Service no. 23551, born 30 Apr 1912 south Adelaide, SA, enlisted in Melbourne 1939 for 12 years, n o k : Margaret (possibly his mother ?????? ) His discharge date : 25 June 1950

Jack,
Do you have the 1937 mc to confirm the information about Lionel IS the same chap that your own records links up to MOD TO DELETE NAME? The Lionel Norley that Leanne and I have mentioned, he was still in the Navy until 1950.
Cheers, JM

Jack,
Did you have a moment to read Cando's post at reply # 10 .... there's the full index of the 1937 marriage details, including ALL the reference numbers,
I understand that Ancestry's index does not give ALL the reference numbers ;)

When did your (MODIFIED TO REMOVE NAME OF POSSIBLE LIVING PERSON) die?
What information is on her death certificate about her marriage/s?
Cheers, JM
-
still trying to find out when lorna rose cook died
-
MODIFIED to remove my quote of Jack's reply # 21 as it may well contain names of a living person
Is it possible that she is still living?
Cheers, JM
-
could be i managed to trace a few living relatives in the cook side and the refused to imprt any information and did not want to know

Births
COOK Lorna Josephine
Father Albert Edward William COOK Mother Alice Maud PYLE
2 Nov 1913
At Unley Ade 922/306
and I won't list Lorna Rose COOK's birth as she may be living. By her year of birth I would imagine that she may not have married until post WW2 and those marriage records are not available in South Australia.
Perhaps you need to speak with your relative again.

still trying ,
-
So there are 2 Lorna'a - thank you Cando.
I have been tracking Ethel Emily Kate Miconi/Mikoni - not relevant here but fascinating all the same.
I cant find where she ended up though.
I don't think ?? ?? ?? ?? married Lionel Norley. I wonder who she did marry?
-
i think a lorna josephine cook married lionel norley, andnot lorna rose norley, still leaves a mystery
-
I think you mean ?? ?? ?? ?? ? - Jack.
My mother was a teenager during WW2. She is still alive but not very well. So ?? ?? could be still alive too. So we probably have to stop researching her on this site.
Good luck with your quest to find more out about her, and I hope you do get to talk to your newly found relative.
Good luck and God bless, Ted

Deidre is basing her request on this newspaper announcement
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0jmh/
If the marriage occurred in South Australia post 1937 we cannot help you with any information. Your person of interest could not have possibly married before this date.
It isn't a mystery. The couple mentioned in the birth notice obviously married after the limit of publicly available records. There is every possibility that your person of interest is still living.
I suggest you speak to your relative again.

thanks
what is the lorna rose cook jack

Hi there Jack
You may not have been aware previously that threads are easily found on any search engine searches .... BUT please simply accept that this is so... So please consider respecting the privacy of your person of interest.

I have edited my posts to protect the person who may still be alive.
