Diocese. Meath
County.Westmeath

Have same parents listed for a John Flood  who was listed as an assisted immigrant to Australia in 1841 aged 24, on the Aryshire, by A E Smith 7 Co Agricultural Agents, Sydney. States calling as a farm labourer. States both parents dead.Native of Lineys Sligo.

Hello natjb
I came across this post as I was looking for something on A E Smith & Co Agricultural Agents.

Are you sure your Daniel Flood born c.1795 or 1796 and John Flood who came to Australia aged 24 in 1841 are brothers?   That makes John born c.1817 - the 2 births 21 years apart.

Of course this is not impossible, but it makes one stop and think.  Esp. as I note it says John was a native of Sligo which, by UK/Irish standards, is a fair way from Westmeath.

There have been other posts on RC about various Flood families, but maybe they were John's descendants.  I remember one of them became a nun - from memory she was Sr Imelda Flood who entered the Josephites at Lochinvar in the Hunter region of NSW.

It's very hard finding records in Ireland in the 1700s unless you know just where they came from, i.e. townland, parish, etc., though you appear to have that for Daniel at least.

Hi Dawn,
Thankyou for your reply. It really was a long shot. I thought that maybe John had moved to Sligo from Westmeath, as his death cert states born the Co Westmeath.
I found a listing for John Flood assisted immigrant with the parents Thomas and Eleanor.I am trying to eliminate all the possibilitys that this is my John Flood.

There were only 5 Vaughan family plots in Westmeath c 1854, as compared to 50 listings of Flood.
By 1901 there are still a few: (Copperalley is in Delvin) you can probably ignore the Athlone ones, as they are a good way away.

Not much help, but maybe worth making a note of.
